Altina Wildlife Park in New South Wales Australia have experienced a massive baby boom among their hoofstock herds during 2020. We travelled to the park in mid-December to meet some of the new arrivals.
Two of the most exciting arrivals are a pair of zebra foals. Also joining the boom are wild horses, antelope, deer, cattle and more.

The zebra foals were born two weeks apart. The first, a female arrived on October 4th 2020 followed by a male on October 18th 2020. The female was named Kanzi and the male Jafari by sponsors who donated towards their care.
Keepers describe the female as “miss adventurous – rarely seen with her mum.” She is often seen having a nap or spending time with her half brother. He has been described as a ‘complete Mama’s boy – barely seen away from his mum’s side.” He is also curious coming up to see guests go past on their tours.

Altina maintain large herds of a range of hoofstock and experience massive success with their breeding programs. At the time of our visit they had welcomed a total of 66 hoofstock arrivals with more expected.
