The 2 week old cheetah cub which was being hand-reared at the Smithsonian’s Conservation Biology Institute has found a new family at Wildlife Safari in Oregon.

On Sunday October 3rd 2021 the cub was transferred to meet his new family. On his journey he was accompanied by keeper, Adrienne Crosier.

Upon arrival at Wildlife Safari the cub was introduced to his new family. Through the first night he nursed several times.

The cub was flown from Washington County Airport in Pennsylvania to Oregon by LightHawk. LightHawk is a conservation non-profit that works with volunteer pilots to advance conservation, through flying animals, conservation scientists, and decision makers across North America.

On the six hour flight the cub is said to have done great. He didn’t sleep much but did feed twice on the journey.

When the cub arrived at the airport he was greeted by the animal care team from Wildlife Safari. They placed hay from the foster cheetah family’s den in the carrier. This would mean he smelt like a cheetah on arrival at the new home.

Upon arrival at Wildlife Safari the cub was introduced to his foster family. For the first hours he would wander around the den but mother Jezabel would bring him back to the cub pile. He eventually became settled and remained with his new siblings.
