The devil has arrived at WILD LIFE Sydney Zoo but this one is more cute than scary. Dharra is a Tasmanian Devil who has moved from Dubbo to Sydney to become an ambassador for her endangered species.
She is already turning heads at the Darling Harbor attraction with her black fur, big brown eyes and baby bear like demeanour.

At WILD LIFE Sydney Zoo Dharra will be an ambassador for her endangered species. Despite being the world’s largest carnivorous marsupials numbers of Tasmanian Devil’s have been falling due to a contagious cancer which emerged in the mid-1990s.
Currently only around 20,000 Tasmanian devils remain.

Dharra has spent her first few weeks at WILD LIFE Sydney Zoo in quarantine. Recently she exited quarantine and has been introduced to her new friend, Bub in the zoo’s Tassie Devil’s den exhibit. Less than a week later keepers report that she is active and appears comfortable in her new enclosure.

“We’re really excited to have Dharra join us here at the zoo and to be able to give Bub a new mate to roam around with in the Tassie Devil’s Den,” said Melanie Higgins, Zoo Keeper at WILD LIFE Sydney Zoo. “She’s a lot younger than Bub, but the two are getting along really well and even enjoying naps together.”
