The Highland Wildlife Park (operated by the Royal Zoological of Scotland) have introduced polar bears Victoria and Arktos for an early Valentine’s Day date. This pair were brought together on a recommendation from the European Endangered Species Breeding Programme.
Keepers are encourage by how the pair are getting on. This is not their first meeting. People worldwide fell in love with their first cub, Hamish during 2017. The cub was the first polar bear born in the United Kingdom in 25 years.
Hamish moved to Yorkshire Wildlife Park in 2020 and keepers hope the empty nesters will now welcome another cub.

Victoria is an experienced mother. Hamish was her second cub having previously welcomed another at Aalborg Zoo in Denmark while she lived there.
Hamish was the first cub for father, Arktos.
Highland Wildlife Park is currently closed to their public as a public health precaution. You can support their conservation work such as the polar bear breeding programme here – Highland Wildlife Park Website
