WILD LIFE Sydney Zoo have celebrated a bumper breeding season for their koala family having welcomed five joeys.
The latest addition to the group is a boy who weighs in at just over 300g (10.6oz). He takes after mom Iluka with a pair of adorable fluffy ears. Keepers say he is quite the acrobat and is often sighted eating upside down.

Senior Keeper at WILD LIFE Sydney Zoo, Ashely Wombey said, “It’s been a tough couple of years for Koala populations in Australia so we’re pleased that our breeding program has been so successful this year, welcoming five happy and healthy joeys to the WILD LIFE Sydney Zoo family.
“Our newest little Joey is settling in really well, he’s very inquisitive, but also loves snuggles and kisses with his mum.”

Now that the joey is settling in at the park keepers are looking for a name as Wombey explained, “All he needs now is a name and this is where we need your help! Following convention, his name should start with the letter ‘B’ – the same as the first letter of his dad’s name: ‘Banks’ – can you help us name him?”
The winning entrant will win a pass to visit WILD LIFE Sydney Zoo once it reopens. Check out the zoo’s Facebook and Instagram pages on Monday August 9th to learn the winning name.
WILD LIFE Sydney Zoo is currently closed as part of efforts to stop the spread of Covid-19 in New South Wales.
