Lucky the miracle dingo pup makes friends with Rocky who has arrived to be her new companion

Lucky, the miracle dingo puppy born through an emergency C-section at the Australian Reptile Park 5 weeks ago has met a new friend. Rocky a six week old puppy has arrived at the park to become friends with Lucky.

Rocky came from Hunter Valley Zoo and will give Lucky a friend for playtime and give Lucky’s parents Fred and Adina a break from entertaining the energetic pup.

It is hoped that once they grow up keepers will be able to find a home at another facility where Lucky and Rocky can spend their life together.

Keepers were concerned that Lucky as a single pup may be lonely on her own and had set out to find a friend for her.

After arriving at the park Rocky was carefully introduced to Lucky before they were given the chance to meet for the first time. At this meeting the pair gently sniffed one another and before long were running around, wresting and having a delightful playtime.

Following Lucky’s dramatic birth through an emergency C-section keepers report that she is now going from strength to strength. She is now becoming more confident each day and is roaming the enclosure on her own.

Life Sciences Manager Hayley Shute said, “We are absolutely thrilled that today’s introduction with Rocky and Lucky went so well – it’s so heartwarming to see Lucky running around playing with another puppy. Lucky is so special to us as Fred and Adina’s only surviving puppy and we couldn’t be happier that we’ve found her a friend to play with.

“Playing with their siblings is an important part of socialisation for dingo puppies and we’re looking forward to seeing these two cuties grow up together,” Ms Shute concluded.
