Penguin Nesting Season Begins at Edinburgh Zoo

Pairs of gentoo penguins at Edinburgh Zoo have been busy working to create their nests ahead of this years breeding season.

Keepers at the Scottish attraction have shared images of the penguins going about their nest building.

Earlier this week keepers had placed the nest rings where the penguins will form their nests in the exhibit officially starting the breeding season.

Each pair will now work to create the best nest by adding as many pebbles as possible before the females lay their eggs later this year. Not all eggs are honestly obtained with some being stolen from other nesting couples.
