Penguin Party at SEA LIFE Sunshine Coast Aquarium

Keepers at SEA LIFE Sunshine Coast Aquarium had twice as much reason to celebrate this week as they celebrated the birthdays of little blue penguins Pebbles and Dennis. The pair turned five and four respectively.

To celebrate the occasion keepers prepared a brightly colored birthday cake formed from jelly and pilchards. The penguin colony enjoyed the treats jumping over them before gobbling them up.

“We had such fun celebrating Pebbles and Dennis today and could see they loved every minute of it. Pebbles, Dennis and the rest of the little blue penguins here are ambassadors for their species, inspiring the public and helping them understand the threats facing their wild relatives and what they can do to help protect them,” said Daisy Lodge, Penguin Keeper at SEA LIFE Sunshine Coast.

The party came as the team at the aquarium prepare for the school holidays starting this week where they will introduce the Teeth and Tails of aquatic animals.

In other news from SEA LIFE Sunshine Coast they have announced the name for they cownose ray pup born earlier this year. The pup was named by Michelle Higginbotham from the Sunshine Coast. who submitted the name as part of a contest. She selected the name Raya for the pup.
