Dinar, a male Sumatran orangutan from Perth Zoo in Australia has gone off site for the first time since he arrived from Toronto Zoo in 2004. He was taken to the specialist veterinary center, Animalius in Bayswater where he underwent a head CT to check his eyes.
To ensure this VIP (very important primate) was anesthetized for as little time as possible he travelled with a police escort which helped to keep him moving through the holiday traffic.

Keepers at the Perth Zoo had recently become concerned by Dinar’s eyes. His right eye had become inflamed with the lens showing some discoloration. He underwent a thorough check by both a veterinary and human opthalmologist and a head CT to rule out glaucoma.
