Pig the Dugong Makes His Prediction for State of Origin Winner

Pig the dugong from Sea Life Sydney Aquarium in Australia has tested his psychic powers with an attempt at predicting the winner of tonight’s state of origin game.

His prediction skills have left aquarists at the New South Wales attraction disappointed after he picked rivals Queensland as the expected winner of the game.

To make his prediction pig was presented two State of Origin footballs in his enclosure which he could pick between. After an initial sniffing out of the competitors using his trunk-like snout he soon settled on the Queensland Maroons.

While aquarists say he didn’t waiver in his prediction, they do believe he may have a small bias.

Aquarist Dayna Plater said, “Being a Dugong, they are generally found up around Queensland and on the Great Barrier Reef. He was found as a rescue up there, so that’s where his story began and I believe that may have swayed his decision slightly,” laughed Dayna.

“We’ll just have to wait and see just how accurate his fortune-telling skills are.”

Visitors to Sea Life Sydney Aquarium can meet Pig at Dugong Island. He is the only dugong on display in Australia and was rescued from the wild after being injured.

Update (10:20pm ACST): Pig may need to brush up on his prediction skills. With the end of the game New South Wales Blues have beaten the Queensland Marrons 34-10.
