The Brevard Zoo have celebrated the hatching of two galah chicks. Keepers are now doting over the two chicks which are being hand-raised. These are the first galah chicks ever hatched at the Brevard Zoo.
Keepers welcomed the first chick on March 21st 2021 when it hatched from its egg and the second emerged six days later. The younger chick is still yet to open its eyes.

Previously the parents of these chicks have not had success in raising their chicks. To give the chicks a better chance of survival they were placed in an incubator.
Keepers are now devoted to raising the chicks which involves feeding them a specialized parrot formula nine times each day.

Keepers are yet to decide on a name for the chicks. They will spend the next few weeks behind the scenes after which they will be integrated with the zoo’s galah flock.
The galah is a member of the cockatoo family which can be found in Australia. They are known for their vibrant pink feathers.
