Woodland Park Zoo have shared adorable images of their red panda cubs getting in to the fall spirit and playing with some pumpkins.

The images were released on All for Animals Giving Day when the zoo is attempting to raise funds for the care of the red panda cubs along with the 1,000 other animals which call Woodland Park Zoo home. Funds raised will also support the zoos conservation work both locally and overseas.

Woodland Park Zoo welcomed the twin red panda cubs in May to mom, Hazel and dad, Yukiko. They have proven to be great parents with the cubs now feeding on the same diet as the adults. Favorite foods for the pair include apples, grapes and fresh bamboo.

Keepers have selected the names Zan and Tian for the cub. Initially it was believed that both were male but at a later exam vets determined that Tian was female.

At birth the cubs weighed as much as a stick of butter but have since grown to 3kg (6.5lbs). They are currently preparing for their public debut which may occur as soon as the end of the month.

While red pandas may resemble raccoons they are in a family of their own. Their time is spent in the trees with most of their day devoted to napping.

Fewer than 10,000 red pandas remain in the wild. Here they are found in bamboo forests of China, the Himalayas and Myanmar.

Their population continues to decline due to deforestation, poaching, increased agriculture and cattle grazing, and continuing pressure from growing local human populations.

Woodland Park Zoo support the red panda network which provide conservation projects to the red panda in Nepal.
