Sea Life Aquariums across Australia and New Zealand will celebrate World Oceans Day on June 8th with a range of live streams presented by their aquarists and conservationists.
World Oceans Day is an annual event which is used to raise awareness of the threats which face the world’s oceans. This day helps to educate the public on what threats sea life are facing such as pollution, climate change and overfishing.
The Sea Life Aquariums are operated by Merlin entertainments and are located in Melbourne, Sydney, the Sunshine Coast and Auckland.

Each aquarium will host a separate live stream on the morning of June 8th to educate on one of their projects. We have included details on each planned stream below.
9.30am The Morning Begins at Kelly Tarlton’s (Auckland) Aquarium
The team in Auckland will show you around their turtle rehabilitation area and introduce the sea turtles which they are currently rehabilitating. You will get to see the work which they do while preparing these injured turtles for a safe return to the wild.
10am Cross the Tasman to Sea Life Sunshine Coast
At Sea Life Sunshine Coast the team will be showing you what happens once a sea turtle finishes their rehabilitation successfully. They will be releasing Bear, a green sea turtle rescued on Noosa North Shore, in to the sea on Mooloolaba Beach.

10.30am Dive beneath the sea at Melbourne Aquarium
Continuing the morning at Sea Life Melbourne it might not be the ocean but you’ll think it is as they take you underwater in their 2.2 million litre oceanarium. Lead diver, Jesse is set to dive with the aquarium’s black reef sharks, grey nurse sharks, sawfish, stingrays and more.
11am Finish the morning at Sydney Aquarium
At Sea Life Sydney their resident shark expert, Rob will be introducing you to the most recent rescue grey nurse shark and discussing the work the aquarium is doing to save this threatened species.
While the live streams will be incredible if you want more of an underwater fix you can now visit all four of the Sea Life locations across Australia and New Zealand after they reopened in recent weeks.
