Merry Christmas! Today while humans celebrate with presents and visiting family the animals at Taronga Zoo Sydney have not missed out on the fun.

While the special treats the animals receive look fun they are also an important part of ensuring the physical and mental wellbeing of the animals housed at Taronga Zoo Sydney.
Enrichment provides opportunities for the animals to display the natural behaviors which they would use to survive in the wild.

Animals which have received treats this holiday season include African Lions, Australian Sea-lions, Giraffes, Capybaras, Bilbies and Squirrel Monkeys.
The lions enjoyed exploring some aromatic pine trees while the giraffe and capybaras enjoyed festive wreaths made from tasty browse, apples and elephant grass. Their sea-lion pup has also enjoyed a roll in some snow.

Enjoying their first Christmas are the five squirrel monkey infants born recently. They enjoyed hanging decorations made from sweet potato and capsicum.
