As humans went out to trick or treat the animals at the world’s zoos were being given treats of their own. Here we take a look at the cutest images of animals enjoying the spooky season.

The treats may be cute for us but serve as important enrichment for the animals giving them new sights, sounds and smells to explore to keep their brain active.

While most animal’s were exploring carved pumpkins the animals at Oregon Zoo had a different take on what to do with pumpkins. They took part in their 21st annual squishing of the squash.

The elephants got to destroy one 800-pound (362.8kg) pumpkin and another 600-pound (272kg) pumpkin grown by Pacific Giant Vegetable Growers Club members Larry Nelson and Jim Paino.
