Four year old mother, Deborah gave birth to the calf on Sunday August 23rd. The father is five year old Ajabu. The calf was confirmed as a male during a neonatal exam soon after the birth. At this time vets determined he was in good health.
At birth the calf weighed a tiny 0.7kg (1.5lbs) and as an adult they grow to between 8-18kg (18-40lbs).

The klipspringer gives birth to a single calf after a seven month gestation period. They are sure-footed when climbing in their rocky habitat and this helps them avoid predators such as the caracal or birds of prey.
Currently the klipspringer does not face any major threat though humans may hunt them for their meat or hide.
