As Washington DC was blanketed by the first snow storm of 2022 on January 3rd 2022 Xiao Qi Ji the giant panda cub enjoyed playing in the snow. While during last years snowfalls Xiao Qi Ji was unsure of the new sights in his enclosure there was no denying his excitement this time.

In the snow he enjoyed rolling around, wrestling with mom Mei Xiang and belly-sliding in the snow.

Turns out Xiao Qi Ji is a chip off the old block. Father Tian Tian is also a big fan of the snow. He enjoyed a nap outside in the snow seemingly unbothered by the cold weather.

As Xiao Qi Ji becomes older he is beginning to show his personality. He is a smart boy with lots of determination. Despite this he is still a mother's boy and will often be seen cuddled up together at night on a bed of hay.

He is also very playful and will spend his time climbing in the trees or playing with enrichment items. In the morning he will also race to the puzzle feeders to try and get to the nutrient-rich biscuits before his mother.

The panda cub is also enjoying more bamboo as he grows. He will often sit alongside his mother and share a piece of bamboo with her. Xiao Qi Ji is also continuing to feed on milk about one per day.

At his most recent weigh-in Xiao Qi Ji tipped the scales at 44.8kg (98.5lbs). As an adult it would be expected he would weigh around 300lbs.
