A pair of red-necked wallaby joeys have begun to emerge from their mother's pouches at Marwell Zoo in the United Kingdom. Now aged a few months old the joeys have spent the first few months of life in the pouch.

The joeys will remain in the pouch of mothers Holly Wallaby and Alison until they are around 7 months old. At this point they will start to explore on their own but return for safety regularly.

Senior Animal Keeper Amy Denny, said: “Holly Wallaby and Alison are first time mothers and they are doing a great job.

“Visitors can spot our mothers as their pouches are much larger and the joeys can frequently be seen popping their heads out throughout the day, so it’s worth returning a few times!”

The red-necked wallaby is a native of Australia where they live in the south-east of the mainland and on the island of Tasmania.
