The litter of six Asian small-clawed otter pups born at the Brookfield Zoo on November 18th 2021 have now been named.
Keepers selected the names, Otto, Otis, Wishes, Hermione (pronounced Her-My-O-Nee), Sachiko (pronounced SAH-chee-ko), and Olivia for the pups.
Parents Pearl and Adhi (pronounced AHH-dee) have been caring for the pups behind the scenes since the birth and the zoo say they are thriving.

Over the past month the pups have started to try out fish which will form the majority of their diet as adults. They’ve also begun their first swimming lessons in a small pool. Should their swimming lessons go well the pups will be exploring the main pool in their habitat by March.
Asian small-clawed otters are the smallest of the 13 otter species with a range taking in parts of southern Asia.
They are listed as vulnerable by the the International Union for Conservation of Nature’s Red List of Threatened Species.
