WILD LIFE Sydney Zoo are celebrating a very special wombat Wednesday with their resident common wombat, Ringo turning 10.

The much adored wombat enjoyed a birthday bash to mark the special occasion with his keepers preparing a wombat friendly cake and some birthday themed enrichment. Guests joined them to sing happy birthday before enjoying their own cake.

Katherine Tanks, Wombat Keeper at WILD LIFE Sydney Zoo shared, “Over the last decade Ringo has delighted guests and keepers, so we couldn’t let this milestone pass without giving him a celebration fit for a wonderful wombat! Three cheers for Ringo!

“Ringo arrived here in Darling Harbour as an orphan, after his mum was unfortunately killed by a car. Watching him mature into the character that he is today has been a journey full of surprises. Getting up to all sorts of mischief is something Ringo is very much known for, he loves to keep his keepers on their toes.”

When Ringo’s not enjoying a snooze in the sun, he is often busted with his back up against the perfect log having a good ole’ bum scratch!’’ she laughed.

Ringo shares his home with five yellow-footed rock wallabies inside the Darling Harbour attraction.
